Gascade says starts reverse pumping to Poland via Yamal-Europe

BERLIN, May 26 (PRIME) -- Operator of the German gas pipeline system Gascade has sent gas through the Yamal–Europe pipeline in a reverse mode to Poland for the first time since July 2019, a spokesperson told PRIME on Tuesday.

"We have got applications to pump imports and exports in Mallnow. In accordance with the sum of applications, the gas flow was changed today, on Tuesday, in accordance with an agreement with the pipeline operator in the period from 7 a.m. until noon. Since noon, pumping has been done from Germany to Poland," the official said.

A transit contract of Russian gas across Poland expired on May 16, and since May 17, gas is pumped basing on the results of auctions. The auction for June booked 94% of the Yamal–Europe capacity.
